Jadeveon Clowney did not break any NCAA rules or accept any impermissible benefits from Jay-Z when he spoke to him recently about possibly joining Roc Nation Sports after the upcoming college football season. At least, that's what the University of South Carolina found out when they conducted a quick investigation into Clowney's relationship with Jay-Z after reports emerged earlier this week about Roc Nation Sports' interest in signing Clowney in 2014. Late yesterday, they put out this handwritten note to clear Clowney of any wrongdoing and to point out that his contact with Jay-Z did not violate any NCAA rules:
It's a little weird that USC Athletic Director Steve Fink made the announcement through a note. It's also a little weird that USC sped through the investigation process in less than a week. But at least they looked into it themselves rather than allowing the NCAA to get involved right away. And if nothing else, that should help Clowney stay eligible for the 2013 college football season. Stay tuned to see if the NCAA decides to get involved in the investigation at some point in the near future.
