Sidney Lowe, an assistant coach with the Utah Jazz who coached N.C. State from 2006 through 2011, was arrested Monday and charged with three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file a North Carolina individual Income Tax Return for 2009, 2010 and 2011, WRAL.com in Raleigh reported.
Lowe was a starting guard on N.C. State?s 1983 national championship team under Jim Valvano.
He was head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves from 1992-1994 and compiled a 33-102 record in those two seasons. He became the Vancouver Grizzlies coach in 1999 and went 23-59 in back-to-back seasons and resigned after the team started 0-8 in 2001.
Lowe returned to his alma mater in 2006 and led the Wolfpack to a 20-16 record and appearance in the NIT. But after five seasons and an 86-78 overall record and 25-55 mark in the ACC and no NCAA Tournament appearances, Lowe resigned.
