LRA Greater New Orleans Chapter?s We Live to Eat: Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week participants very satisfied with results, for the second year in a row
The Louisiana Restaurant Association?s (LRA) Greater New Orleans Chapter?s 2nd Annual We Live to Eat: Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week satisfied many diners September 10-16, 2012 and boosted participating restaurant sales during a traditionally slow period.
During the weeklong celebration of New Orleans cuisine, 38 participating restaurants in the New Orleans metro area offered special prix fixe menus, giving diners the opportunity to try items at 25 percent value off the regular price. Restaurants offered a two-course lunch for $20 and a three-course dinner for $35. Participating restaurants ranged from fine dining establishments to neighborhood favorites. All establishments featuring Restaurant Week menus had at least one Louisiana seafood option available.
According to the restaurants that featured Restaurant Week menus, diners came out in droves to try something new, or visit an old favorite. It was a welcome respite from the havoc caused by Hurricane Isaac, which blew through New Orleans and its surrounding areas only the week before. Diners craved a sense of normalcy after days without electricity and storm cleanup and chose to gather around the tables of some of the city?s best eateries.
A survey of participating restaurants was conducted following Restaurant Week, with these results:
- 73 percent of respondents saw an increase in sales during Restaurant Week, over the same period last year
- 72 percent of respondents were either satisfied or very satisfied with Restaurant Week
- 100 percent of respondents featured seafood more on the Restaurant Week menu
- 100 percent of respondents would participate in Restaurant Week next year
The dates for the 3rd Annual We Live to Eat: Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week have already been set?September 9-15, 2013.
?Ruth?s Chris has participated in the We Live to Eat: Louisiana Seafood Restaurant Week from the beginning and will continue to participate,? said Ruth?s Chris Steak House General Manager Michael Miller. ?Restaurant Week has given us increased guest traffic each year, while giving our guests a terrific value. This movement?s theme is therefore centered on supporting local restaurants and exploring the art and enjoyment of our dining scene, so central to life and culture in New Orleans.
