Allison Garrett, who was a finalist earlier this year for the Oklahoma Christian University presidency, has been named executive vice president of Abilene Christian University in Texas.

An ACU news release reports:

Abilene Christian University has announced the appointment of Allison Garrett, J.D., as executive vice president. Garrett, the senior vice president for academic affairs at Oklahoma Christian University, will fill the ACU position previously held by Dr. Phil Schubert before he transitioned into the role of president in 2010. ?

?Allison comes to us with impressive academic and business experience,? said Dr. Phil Schubert. ?Most importantly, she is a strong Christian woman who is passionate about transforming the lives of students. ACU is fortunate to have such a talented individual who will help advance our mission.?

Oklahoma Christian President John deSteiguer said in a note to the university?s campus community:

Allison is a good friend and a trusted colleague, and she has had great influence at OC in her role as Senior Vice President for Academics. She is uniquely equipped for her new position having significant business, managerial, academic, and leadership experience.

Garrett made national headlines?in February when she testified at a U.S. House hearing on an Obama administration contraception mandate.
